Follow these steps to get started with Berkeley HeartLab:
- Call 1-800-432-7889 to order specimen collection kits and to locate the closest Disease Management Consultant.
- Draw blood samples and ship to Berkeley HeartLab. With an appropriate diagnosis, some insurance companies provide coverage for Berkeley HeartLab tests. Medicare patients will likely have no out-of-pocket cost.
- Phlebotomists need a refrigerator and centrifuge for preparing and storing blood samples and a freezer for ice packs.
- Test results are sent to the practice (Sample Berkeley HeartLab Test Report). Berkeley HeartLab can provide more than one copy of the test report if required.
- Our Clinical Consultants have strong clinical backgrounds in cardiovascular disease and lipid metabolism and are available to help with Berkeley HeartLab test interpretation and its utilization in guiding therapy.
- Clinicians can use test results to develop a baseline for risk characterization and monitor the effects of the possible changes in therapy.
- Based on the clinician's treatment plan and Berkeley HeartLab test results, 4myheart Program Clinical Educators are available to help patients develop personalized goals for lowering stroke and cardiovascular disease risk.
